QPR Training

QPR stands for Question, Persuade and Refer – three steps anyone can learn to help prevent suicide. Like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. HeartLine offers a one-hour training session for adults to learn how to help someone in crisis. Licenses remain active for three years.

According to the Surgeon General’s National Strategy for Suicide Prevention, a QPR “gatekeeper” is someone in a position to recognize a crisis and the warning signs of someone contemplating suicide. Gatekeepers include parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, squad leaders, foremen, police officers, advisors, caseworkers, firefighters and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize and help someone who is a suicide risk.

As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper you will learn to:

  • Recognize the warning signs of suicide
  • Know how to offer hope
  • Know how to get help and save a life

If you’d like to learn more about QPR training and how to schedule a session for yourself or your business, submit an interest form or call Felicia Wright at 405-840-9396 ext. 101.
